** The Holocaust started January 30, 1933. Hitler wanted to do a systematic murder on all the Jews because he was against their race.He was the ruler of a group called the Nazis and they helped kill the Jews in concentration camps. The Nuremburg Laws took away a lot of the rights that the Jews have. For example, Jews could not marry other Jews or non-Jews.
** The "Night of The Broken Glass" was also known as Kristallnacht. During this day of November 9, 1938, the Nazis attacked Jewish home, synagogues, businesses and killed one hundred Jews. The main streets of where they attacked look like shattered plate glass. That is why is was called The Night of The Broken Glass.
** After the Night of the Broken Glass, many German Jews fled to other countries because of their fear of the violence. Adolf Hitler accepted emigration but other countries limit the Jewish immigrants or refugees.
** Hitler started isolating the Jews. All of the Jews went to their designated cities and forced to go into ghettos. Hitler hopes that Jews will die of disease or any other bad conditions. The Jews luckily survived the bad conditions in the ghettos.
** Hitler finally thinks of a final plan for the treatment of the Jews. Hitlers "Final Solution" to kill the Jews is to use genocide. Genocide can kill an entire group of people systematically at one time.
** The Nazis are in Eastern Europe and the Soviets are creating killing squads to start the killings of the Jews. They start shooting everybody in mass amounts. Other Jews other than men, women, and children were sent to concentration camps and labor prisons.
** By 1942, the Nazis start building huge concentration camps. The camps were to separate the strong from the weak and the weak were killed immediately. The weak included women, children, elderly, and the sick people.
** Auschwitz was the largest German concentration camp. It had three camps in the camp. The names of the three camps were Auschwitz, Birkenau, and Monowitz.
** Some of the Jews survived the Holocaust, but fewer than four million. The Nazis killed about six million. By May 8, 1945, the Holocaust ended.
** About 5,000 Jewish communities were destroyed from the Holocaust and the Germans used Jewish people to perform medical experiments during the Holocaust. Between 1933 and 1939, 304,500 Jewish people emigrated from Germany.
